Care & Effective Use

Every child is different. We encourage you to observe and adapt your child’s space based on their unique abilities and needs

Until you observe your child and have a better understanding of their abilities with the bed, we recommend a 12-inch distance from the wall when just the platform is in use. These recommendations are to avoid entrapment of your child between the wall and bed frame.

Sprout side rails, headboards, and footboards meet the ASTM Full-size Crib guidelines found in F1169-19.

Mattress Information

We recommend a twin-size mattress between 6-8 inches thick

Really wonderful bed

The Sosta bed is fantastic, and Sprout is a great company. We got the bed for our 3 yo when he was asking to transition from his crib, and purchased the model with feet and rails all around. One thing in particular I've appreciated since we set it up about 1.5 months ago is the massive benefit of the wrap-around rails — not only does it feel cozy and secure for him, but we can tuck his sheets and comforter into the sides and they don't come loose in the night. We've heard so many stories from friends and relatives of tucking the covers in again and again at night. With the rails, the covers tuck in nicely and work great for him. As he gets older, we'll just remove them and use for his younger sister.

I also love that the bed is modular. We plan on setting up a bunk bed for him down the road and love that Sprout's design makes that very straightforward and sturdy.

Last, it's just high-quality. Great red oak, looks good, feels strong, doesn't squak, is easy to set up even as an individual person, and Sprout's instructions and support are top notch. It's more expensive than some of the other beds we looked at, but when I factor in durability, ease of taking it apart when we need to move in a couple years, quality, and the value of being able to convert it to a bunk bed down the line instead of starting from scratch, it's totally worth it.

I'd only bought one product from Sprout before - the Alba Montessori wardrobe - which our son also loves. They do a great job and we'll be back for another wardrobe and Sosta bed for our youngest when she's ready.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! We’re so glad to hear the Sosta Bed has been a great fit for your family and that the quality and design are working well for you. We’d love to help when your youngest is ready! Thanks again for your support

Love it!

I love the bed. We bought two for both our kids with the intention of turning them into a bunkbed when they are a bit older. I love that the sidebars make sure no one falls out and finally the blanket also stays in place and they dont sleep uncovered like they used to. My only worry is that the sidebars are only attached by the bottom and one ankerpoint on the side, making me worry that they will brake off if climbed over and handled too roughly.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We're so glad to hear that you love the bed and that it's been a great solution for your kids. Your concern about the sidebars is completely valid, safety is a top priority for us. That’s why we had Sosta undergo rigorous third-party safety testing before launch of the bunk bed to ensure it meets high standards for durability and stability, including the sidebars. If you ever have any issues or questions about proper use, feel free to reach out, we're happy to help!
