Does this shelf need to be anchored to the wall?
We highly recommend anchoring the shelf to the wall using the included wall anchor kit. Anchoring provides added stability and ensures the safety of children by preventing the risk of tipping.

I have friends who use the IKEA Trofast (which I replaced with this shelving unit), and I’d totally recommend that they upgrade to give their children more independence and ownership of their storage/play space. The shallower, easier-to-see cubbies make such a difference; it turns out that limiting the amount of space in which to shove random items encourages actual organization, who knew? She really takes pride in the way that the shelves are organized and in keeping them that way. She is playing with her toys SO much more now that she can find them- it’s really changed the way that she spends time in her room to a very surprising degree.
I wish I had this when my kids were younger, but even now when they are 2 & 6 it’s the perfect toy display and storage solution for toy rotation! I love the flexibility this offers with being able to adjust the placement of shelves.
Currently, we have our younger kiddo’s toys on the bottom shelves and my older kiddo’s toys on the higher shelves, with some storage baskets up high as well. I’ve also been using the very top of the shelf to display themed toys/decor items.
Just like our other sprout furniture, it was easy and fairly quick to put together with no tools needed other than a rubber mallet (I used the hammer we have for opening coconuts 😅), and the construction is very sturdy just like the rest of our Sprout furniture.
Once my kids are older, it’s going to work just as beautifully as a regular storage shelf for books or other items!
