Is your product 100% made in the USA?
Yes, it is. Our wood products are sourced from the forests of northwest. Manufacturing packaging and fulfillment is done in Utah. The only exception is the raw Baltic birch material, which we source from the Baltic Region of Europe.
How is your product eco-friendly?
At Sprout we try to protect the other sprouts out there by using recycled materials and minimizing emissions from shipping. Our wood products are made from pre-consumer recycled wood fiber, essentially, the wood left over from cutting logs into lumber. Our cardboard is made with up 30% recycled material, and is 100% recyclable. Sourcing of raw materials, manufacturing, packaging, and fulfillment is all done in the USA, which reduces emissions from shipping. The unique design of our products also decreases emissions from shipping because they ship flat packed.

Would your stools be appropriate for a 13-month-old?

1) Positioning Yourself Correctly
To assemble Sprout products all the way takes a little force. Position yourself above, and push down. Using gravity to help is much easier than using your arm muscles to push and pull at the same time. If you’re having a hard time even after you’ve positioned yourself correctly check to make sure the pieces are facing the right way.
2) Positioning the Pieces Correctly
If you pay close attention to the assembly instructions they will show you which way the pieces should face. If you’d like to talk to one of us just call or send us a message; we are happy to help!
What do I do if my Sprout table wobbles?
First, try the table on another surface; it may just be the floor that's uneven.
The sprout table is designed to compensate for a certain amount of unevenness. To fix any unevenness, place the table where you want it, identify the high legs, place your hands on the table top above the high legs and push down with a hard, sharp push. This will even out the legs.
What if a part breaks?
We offers free replacement parts for manufacturing defects/parts damaged during shipping and reported during our 30 day warranty period. If you received an order with damaged parts, please fill out our replacement part form and send pictures of the damaged parts to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll make sure we get you new parts right away! If you are past the 30 day warrenty period, don't worry, there's just a small fee for new parts and shipping.
Can I use Sprout products outside?
We do not recommend or guarantee our products for outdoor use.
What happens if my Sprout products get wet?
Incidental contact is no issue. We left one of our tables under a sprinkler overnight. The next morning the table had minimal swelling. Most of the swelling left after drying. However, we don’t recommend watering your sprout products. If your basement floods it will be a problem, but if your basement floods you’ll have bigger problems.
How should I clean my Sprout products?
The surfaces are very durable and clean quite well. To clean marks off the surface, spray an all-purpose cleaner, such as 409, on the spot then scrub with a rag. We did a test on them to demonstrate how to clean just about anything off of them including sharpie! Check out this blog post about it. The edges are unfinished, but if they get dirty you can use a little bit of sandpaper to remove the outer layer and any discoloration.
Will crayons, paint or food marks come off?
Yes! Crayon, paint and food and even Sharpie come off the surface of our furniture. You can see the test we did on them below. We used common art supplies to color large rectangles on the table, then washed half of each rectangle off to demonstrate how easily they come off! Check out this blog post about it. The edges are unfinished, but if they get marked you can use a little bit of sandpaper to remove the outer layer and any discoloration.
How sturdy are the joints?
How should I clean the unfinished edges?
You can use a little bit of sandpaper to remove the outer layer and discoloration.
Do your bins hold up?
We have had some people concerned about this, but few people have actually had issues with them. Our boxes are made from 44 ECT cardboard, which is one of the thickest cardboards available. That said, they are just cardboard and are not made for little teethers.
What is MDF?
MDF is Medium Density Fiberboard. It is made from pre-consumer recycled wood fiber, essentially, all the shavings and scraps that come from wood when cutting it into lumber. The wood chips are then "digested" or separated into small fibers. These fibers are then bound together using a binder under heat and pressure to create sheets.
What is the surface made of?
The surface of our furniture is made of melamine, which is the short name for Thermally Fused Melamine. Thermally Fused Melamine commonly used in cabinets and furniture. It is made from a paper that is treated with melamine resin to create a very durable and water resistant surface. The melamine resin has been used since the 1970's to make household dishware.
What is the paint made of?
The paint-like surface of our MDF furniture is actually melamine, which is made from paper that is treated with melamine resin to create a very durable and water resistant surface. The melamine resin has been used since the 1970's to make household dishware.
Our painted Baltic Birch furniture is painted with a waterbased UV-cured finish.

What is Raw Baltic Birch?
Baltic birch plywood. Our baltic birch has more layers than typical plywood making it much stronger. It is patched where there were knots. Our baltic birch is the one material not sourced from inside the USA: we get most of it from the Baltic Region of Europe.
Do Sprout products contain formaldehyde?
Sprout furniture products are made from CARB (California Air Resources Board) compliant materials. CARB regulates the emissions of some chemicals in fiberboard such as MDF. Current regulations require emissions of formaldehyde to be be less than 0.05 parts per million (less than 0.000005%). All MDF used in Sprout products complies with or exceeds these standards and are manufactured in USA.
Do your cardboard storage boxes contain formaldehyde, fire retardants, lead, BPA, PVC, phthalates, formadine, or cadmium?
None of the above! Our cardboard storage boxes do not have any formaldehyde, fire retardants, lead, BPA, PVC, phthalates, formamide or cadmium.
What type of ink do you use for the designs on your bins?
We use a water soluble ink, which is food contact safe. You can feel comfortable that your little ones are safe even if they have a taste for cardboard and ink.
Can I finish or paint my purchased Raw Baltic Birch?
Yes, but here are a couple things to consider. First, painting the inside of the joints will make the product very difficult to disassemble once assembled. Second some paint will rub off as you assemble it. If you want to paint it, you may consider waiting until after it’s assembled.
Can I paint my purchased Sprout kid’s table and chairs?
Unfortunately, the melamine surface doesn't paint very well, so we don’t recommend it.
Can the 21 cube bookcase be placed sideways so it is short and wide instead of tall and narrow?
Yes, but the front edge of each shelf isn’t as sturdy when it’s laid down sideways so you’ll want to put less weight on each individual cubby than the 30 lbs they are rated for when standing upright.
Can I cut the depth of my cubby shelving unit down?
It could possibly be cut down but we don't recommend it as it weakens the vertical supports significantly. If you do decide to cut it down only take off an inch or two max.
Is it possible to wall mount the 16 cubby organizer?
It can be attached to the wall for stability but it is not designed to be hung off the wall like a picture :)
Is there a way to permanently assemble my Sprout furniture?
Yes. There are three steps to permanently assemble your Sprout furniture.
1) Place a pea-sized dot of wood glue on the bottom of each groove.
2) Slide tab into slot and tighten normally. Repeat for each joint.
3) Let glue dry for 30 minutes before use.
